I would like to share a revelation I received regarding warfare and how we should be waging warfare in the spirit.
Where is this warfare waged? Is it in the heavenly realm as so many have taught? Is this a physical or a spiritual context? What does scripture say? I have re-worked the famous WARFARE scriptures using the Strong’s interpretation of the original Greek words interpreted as war and warfare, as well as all the words associated with this interpretative context. The ESV version is stated first, with my version following:
2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the body, we do not execute the apostolate (with its arduous duties and functions) to contend with carnal inclinations, according to the body (as opposed to the spirit),
2Co 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
2Co 10:4 For we are busy with the implements, utensils or tools of our apostolic career (as one of hardship and danger) which are not of the body (as opposed to the spirit), but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
Amazingly, the primary meaning is NOT physical, hand-to-hand combat against satan and his demons as we have been taught in recent times! This scripture does not instruct every believer to confront and overcome strongholds as many have taught!! It clearly states that it is about the execution of the authority of the Apostles over strongholds because they are not tied to bodily/physical needs.
2Co 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
2Co 10:5 We, apostles, destroy every reasoning (arguments) and barrier (lofty opinion) raised against the knowledge of God, and take every perception (thought) captive to obey Christ,
What? Are the Apostles to destroy arguments and take misperceptions captive? Not to take satan and demons captive? What about all the binding we did in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the binding satan up in chains and sending him to the abyss, hell and wherever else our over-active fleshly reasonings could send him?
2Co 10:6 being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.
2Co 10:6 being ready to assert every inattention, when your compliance or submission is complete.
Please read these scriptures slowly to re-program your understanding and establish new

So we see that warfare is actually entering into a position of resting in God, it is not what we do – it is where we are that is important. Seated IN Christ IN heavenly places is where we should be…and God laughs at His enemies!! So when we are in Christ we should be laughing at the defeated enemies of God!!
