About the “In His Presence” workshop and guidelines

o I am excited about what God is doing in this time. He has released an anointing on me to fulfil my calling – taking His children into His Presence!!

o My focus was always on healing…emotional and physical healing and healing through deliverance. God told me a few years ago that the compassion of Christ releases the Power of God – I must seek Compassion – NOT power!!

o We are going deeper than most of you have ever gone…this WILL blow your mind and fuses as well as some religious concepts and beliefs. I do have scripture for everything I do…and I invite you to judge what you experience…that is why we have feedback sessions…you are welcome to also email questions to me…

o We are doing Practical sessions…in the practical sessions:

§ I need you to engage and not be distracted…

§ Entering into the presence of God is very personal

· please respect the privacy of people around you

· please don’t interrupt their concentration by speaking to them

§ No ministering to each other…you are here to receive…not to give… that will come once you are equipped…

§ There will be a time of ministering to each other

· Keep anything you get until then… if appropriate

· Or share in the break – after asking permission to share

o We are doing Interactive sessions…where:

§ I will ask you to share your experiences…

· This is so we can all learn from different experiences

· Please share…briefly and to the point

· Especially if you experienced something differently!!

§ My teachings and the feedback sessions are interactive:

· so you can interrupt to ask for clarity or to comment

o if it is a general point and will benefit others

o if it is personal write it down and ask me later or e-mail me afterwards

o If you need assistance:

§ put up your hand

§ if it’s urgent wave or call out before you fall over!

o If you are stuck or struggling in a session:

§ If it’s minor put up your hand

§ If it will take longer or disturb those around you – move to the room next door

o If you want to sit out of a session:

§ You are welcome

o Cellphones

§ Please respect those around you

§ Off or Airplane mode

§ Going out is also a disturbance

· We will use them to record various parts of the interaction where it is difficult to write and stay in the spirit…it is easier to describe softly what you experience…to listen to later and transcribe

o Questions…

I don’t want you reading anything in the Practical Sessions….because I want you to listen with your spirit and not your MIND!!

Please note that every Workshop is led by Holy Spirit and is different!! It may follow this format…or may not…

Most times there will be much less teaching and more Practicals… depending on where the group is…and how Holy Spirit leads

Have you Adapted?

Last Friday after work, I went outside to feed the birds and squirrels. I noticed a small animal out the side of the house.

I couldn’t see too well, needing new glasses. I peered and it looked like a squirrel, but I couldn’t see any eyes, or ears, or even a defined nose. So, I called to my husband and he came. He didn’t have his glasses on, so he couldn’t see much either.

I thought to bring this animal some peanuts. As I got closer, I was stunned to find that this little squirrel (we now call him Alvin) didn’t have a face but layers of skin covering over what would be his eyes and ears, no defined snout, but he appeared to be able to smell.

Alvin knew I was there because he stopped and bobbed his head. I tossed him a few peanuts, but he didn’t move. I don’t think he had teeth to eat the peanuts.

I started to cry. The sadness that I felt was overwhelming. Then I heard a voice tell me that Alvin is a picture to me.

Alvin went behind the bush, and I went inside and peered through different windows to follow him and couldn’t hold back the tears. He was in the back yard hopping around, pushing his snout on the ground for bugs to eat. He seemed to be happy but to me looked really sick.

My husband came upstairs and said, “Maybe this is a picture of how God sees us when we don’t acknowledge the gift of a human spirit within us. We seek to grow with knowledge but without true experience of His mercy and grace. Our eyes are covered up so we can’t see, and there are no ears to hear, but there is a limited sense that is working.”

Alvin adapted.

Is that what we’ve learned to do? To adapt?

My heart aches for others to know the truth because I am a changed person, and I have no doubt that God will and (is) using me to be a blessing as I experience this gift inside me.

Susan

How much have you adapted?

Do you see those who don’t do the right things like this?

Scriptures that are often quoted and which are applicable

The good works He has called you to do are already written in His book.

Ephesians 2:10 Amplified Bible (AMP)

For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Psalm 139:16 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.

He formed you in your mother’s womb

Psalm 139:13 Amplified Bible (AMP)

For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Jeremiah 1:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Before the foundation of time, He created you.

Ephesians 1:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.

The Breath of Life

Do you know how to breathe and why it is important?

Breathing is a sign of life.

1. The fastest way to get something into every cell in your body.

2. Breathing supplies oxygen to our blood system that keeps the body going.

3. It helps with concentration, relaxes the muscles, gets rid of toxins out of the system and regenerates the cells e.g. in the brain, organs, nerves system etc.

4. Our Father who is in the HEAVENS…in every breath I take!!

Become aware of your breathing…in…out…in…out…in…IN more…more…more…

As we get older, we only use the upper lobes of the lungs which results in shallow breathing. That is why the shallow breathing means that we don’t use the full capacity of the lungs.

People actually haven’t been taught to use the full capacity of the lungs but that is actually our goal when it comes to breathing. There is nothing in our lifestyles that encourages us to breathe properly e.g. a lion chasing us!

Become aware of how you breathe daily and what it going on in your body.

Your body is a machine and it needs to be used and worked like a car. When a car stands in a garage for 6 months without being used, the tyres or the battery will become flat. The same with the body – it must be used properly on a daily basis.

Breathing Exercise

1. Inhale through the nose with a closed

2. Inhalation through a closed mouth versus an open mouth gives you a longer, deeper breath.

3. Exhale through pursed lips – like you are blowing through a straw.

4. Repeat exhalation 5 times (count and do it with them slow enough).

Purpose of deeper breathing:

· Using full capacity of the lungs

· When breath is longer, you feel calmer

· Slower breath makes you feel more relaxed

Your position in Christ

This Practical Workshop is called “In His Presence” because that is where I want you to be! I want to help you get there…to hear His voice…to see in the spirit…to experience heaven…HERE and NOW!!

Gen 3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence (OUT OF THE FACE) of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Gen 4:16 Then Cain went away from the presence (OUT OF THE FACE) of the LORD and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

We cannot see the face of God and live… but if we are IN Him (In His Face) – seeing through His eyes – what a difference!! Stretch your mind and heart to embrace this possibility.

Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Joh 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Joh 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

Joh 17:9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.

Joh 17:10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them.

Joh 17:11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.

Joh 17:12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

Joh 17:13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

Joh 17:14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Joh 17:15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.

Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Joh 17:18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.

Joh 17:19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.

Joh 17:20 "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,

Joh 17:21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Joh 17:22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,

Joh 17:23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

2Co 4:13 Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak,

2Co 4:14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. Present tense

2Co 4:15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

2Co 4:16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.

2Co 4:17 For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,

2Co 4:18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

2Co 5:1 For we know that if the tent, which is our earthly home, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

2Co 5:2 For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling,

2Co 5:3 if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked.

2Co 5:4 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened–not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

2Co 5:5 He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

2Co 5:6 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, Paul says your body is not your home…it as a temporary tent

2Co 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

2Co 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. This is NOT dying and going to heaven!!

2Co 5:9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. Paul takes it for granted that we can do this!! HERE and NOW!

2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

2Co 5:11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, Do you know it? we persuade others. Do you? But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience.

Blockages to entering into the spirit

So what are the blocks or blockages that stop us from being where we were born to be…where we want to be…in the spirit? This is the only focus of this Workshop!!

“You are more than you have become.” Simba’s father says to him in The Lion King as he runs away from his destiny.

We all ARE MORE than we have become. We all have capacity and the destiny to soar far higher and far further than we could ever imagine.

That is why you are here…you are looking for more!!

Our spirits yearn for more, our spirits can see what is waiting for us to be unlocked in other dimensions of existence. Our spirit can see what we would be if we only listen with our heart and see with our spirit. Your spirit knows what awaits those who give themselves to the King of all dimensions and the ruler of all Realms.

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

Rom 8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

Rom 8:4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Rom 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

Where do you set your mind??

Rom 8:6 To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

Rom 8:7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.

What is important to you?

Rom 8:8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Rom 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

Rom 8:10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Righteousness is not the goal!! LIFE is the goal!! R is the path to LIFE!!

Rom 8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Rom 8:12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

Rom 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Not by effort of the flesh!! By the spirit!!

Rom 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"

Rom 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Rom 8:17 and if children, then heirs–heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Rom 8:19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.

Rom 8:20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope

Rom 8:21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.

Rom 8:23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

Rom 8:24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?

Rom 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Rom 8:27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Rom 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Rom 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Rom 8:30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Rom 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Rom 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

Rom 8:33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

Rom 8:34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died–more than that, who was raised–who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

Rom 8:36 As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered."

Rom 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Rom 8:38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,

Rom 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Unveiling of Christ in us

Let’s look at TRIBULATION & APOCALYPSE

Falling away – what is it to fall away or to deny Christ?

Not the communist or Taliban threatening to shoot you if you do not deny him!

It is not obeying Him and walking with Him in your daily life.

Corné Bekker – Regent University

The book of Revelation has been called the Apocalypse – it does NOT mean chaos. It means an unveiling! In this time we need Christians and churches who can SEE!
Rev 1:1-2  The revelation (unveiling) of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony (evidence) of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.
God’s prerequisites for us to see (to be unveiled):
1.       An unveiling only happens when you are willing to be vulnerable – let go of everything you’re holding onto.
2.       An unveiling only happens when you bear witness to the Word of God by honouring it.
3.       The unveiling only happens as you see the evidence of Jesus Christ and what He saw in your own life as you walk in His footsteps as a disciple or follower.
Rev 3:8 {NOTE: I put the b part put first for continuity of the steps}
b. "I know that you have but little power, (Step 1 – Vulnerability)
and yet you have kept my word (Step 2 – Obedience)
and have not denied my name (Step 3 – Walk in His footsteps as a Disciple)
a.       I know your works. (Evidence of Step 3 – Walking in His footsteps as a Disciple)
Behold, I have set before you an open door (to heaven), which no one is able to shut. (Step 4 – Promised revelation or unveiling)
Rev 3:9  Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie – behold,
I will make them come and bow down before your feet (Step 5 -  Promised Victory)
and they will learn that I have loved you. (Step 6 – (Agape) unconditionally loved)
John’s biggest concern was the church. God will not show us the future unless we have a concern for the church. When you see what He is seeing you will cry for what you’re seeing. We’re not seeing Jesus for who He is. The fear of God is learnt by seeing Jesus. The church will not survive unless they can see.
The only thing the enemy can do is distract you from the plan God already has for your life purpose and destiny!!
How do we avoid distraction? How do we see Jesus?
Rev 1:10  I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet…
There is only ONE answer – get into the spirit so you can see in the spirit…

Acts 22:14-16:

The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear an utterance from His mouth. "For you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard. Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name."

This fourfold apostolic mandate is experiential in nature. He was commissioned;

I. To Know His Will.
II. To See the Righteous One.
III. To Hear Utterances from His Mouth.
IV. To be a Witness or Testifier of What is Seen and Heard.

Then I heard the question asked: Why do you delay? We are entering a season of no more delay. I believe this will be true for the remnant that has been equipped, refined and prepared for this mandate.

Empty Religion or Relationship IN Christ?

Act 17:21 Now all the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there would spend their time in nothing except telling or hearing something new.

Act 17:22 So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: "Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious.

You are in all things too superstitiousdeisidaimonesteroi “you easily admit everything that comes under a show of religion, but it is that which corrupts it more and more; I bring you that which will reform it.”

Act 17:23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.

Pre-christians worship the unknown…it cannot be known since it is false. Know – be intimate with…that is why it is empty…they cannot be intimate with something that is not real. So, do not fear them or their false religion…help them!

The most important question is…”Is your religion EMPTY?”

Our experiences determine our outlook and viewpoint – they define us.

1976 Taxi bumper sticker:

“You hate me because you fear me, you fear me because you don’t know me.”

Response: A stranger is just a friend you have not met yet.

Act 17:24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,

Where does He live? Heaven? – Inside us!!

Luk 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom (realm) of God is within you.

Act 17:25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything / and all things KJV (kata – down – that which derives from life and breath – frequently denotes opposition, distribution or intensity.)

Act 17:26 And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,

Act 17:27 that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us…

SEEK: to manipulate, that is, verify by contact; figuratively to search for: – feel after, handle, touch.

FEEL: verify by contact; figuratively to search for: – feel after, handle, touch.

FIND: find, get, obtain, perceive, see…

REDEMPTION

We are called to redeem TRUTH and CULTURE – ESTABLISH IT IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM – before satan twisted it…

Paul does this and poems written to Zeus and Jupiter are now part of the Bible!

Act 17:28 for "’In him we live and move and have our being’; Epimenides of Crete was a semi-mythical 7th or 6th century BC Greek seer and philosopherpoet. While tending his father’s sheep, he is said to have fallen asleep for fifty-seven years in a Cretan cave sacred to Zeus, after which he reportedly awoke with the gift of prophecy…

as even some of your own poets have said,

‘For we are indeed his offspring.’

Aratus 277 BC a Greek poet of Cilicia the native place of Paul wrote (“Phoenomena,” v. 5),and in Cleanthus in a hymn to Jupiter.

Act 17:29 Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man.

Act 17:30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.

1 John 4:18 Amplified Bible (AMP)

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love [a]turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! 1 John 4:18

New King James Version (NKJV)

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as [a]in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand [b]fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been [c]fully and clearly known and understood [[d]by God].

9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

Heb 4:9 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God,

Heb 4:10 for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

Heb 4:11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.

Teaching on EMOTIONS

Are emotions Good? Bad? Neutral? Does God have emotions? Pleased, Kind, Angry, Jealous

What do we do with our emotions? – suppress, bury, hide, deny

What is the purpose of emotions? Emotions are the Language of Relationship – DEMO welcome

Eph 4:26 Be angry, and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down upon your wrath,

Eph 4:27 neither give place to the Devil.

DON’T sleep on it. You will wake up and it will be buried!!

What should we do with our emotions? Acknowledge them! Realise they are giving us a message about a relationship – look at what the message is. If it is rejection then the problem is NOT the emotions but the REJECTION is the problem.

What should we do with feelings and emotions?

Mat 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

Come to the One who will always ACCEPT you

Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rom 8:36 Even as it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

Rom 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Mat 5:43 You have heard people say, "Love your neighbors and hate your enemies."

Mat 5:44 But I tell you to love your enemies and pray for anyone who mistreats you.

Mat 5:45 Then you will be acting like your Father in heaven. He makes the sun rise on both good and bad people. And he sends rain for the ones who do right and for the ones who do wrong.

Mat 6:12 Forgive us for doing wrong, as we forgive others.

Mat 6:13 Keep us from being tempted and protect us from evil.

Mat 6:14 If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, your Father in heaven will forgive you.

Mat 6:15 But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Rom 12:20 The Scriptures also say, "If your enemies are hungry, give them something to eat. And if they are thirsty, give them something to drink. This will be the same as piling burning coals on their heads."

Rom 12:21 Don’t let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good. DO NOT REJECT EVEN YOUR ENEMIES

Mat 18:35 That is how my Father in heaven will treat you, if you don’t forgive each of my followers with all your heart.

What does this mean? Seriously – all the way?

the heart; also used (figuratively) very widely for the feelings, the will and even the intellect; likewise for the centre of anything = SOUL

Will & Mind/intellect

Until I saw that person – so I then avoided them

Then I tried by my will to change my emotions.

Is love an emotion?

Love is an act of God’s will being released on earth by you … Love your neighbor as yourself…

We feel love in our emotions. We reciprocate love. God’s love is Agape

What should we do with our emotions?

1Pe 5:6 Therefore be humbled under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time,

1Pe 5:7 casting all your anxiety onto Him, for He cares for you.

1Pe 5:8 Be sensible and vigilant, because your adversary the Devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour;

1Pe 5:9 whom firmly resist in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions in the world are being completed in your brotherhood.

1Pe 5:10 But the God of all grace, He calling us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, He will perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

1Pe 5:11 To Him be the glory and the might forever and ever. Amen.

See how here again in v8 the devil is mentioned IMMEDIATELY after we are told how to deal with emotions – Eph 4:27

Php 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Php 4:7 And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

How long does it take to write a song? David wrote this Psalm – pouring his heart out to God – The ONLY one where it is safe to release everything in your heart!! Realise that this took time – look at how he is totally honest and at the progression of his emotions as God moves in Him. I have added the emotions I see…

Psa 69:1 To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. Of David. Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. David’s MIND, WILL & EMOTIONS are overwhelmed

Psa 69:2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. Hopelessness, overwhelmed

Psa 69:3 I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God. Hopelessness

Psa 69:4 More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; mighty are those who would destroy me, Powerless those who attack me with lies. What I did not steal must I now restore? Injustice

Psa 69:5 O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you. Repentant

Psa 69:6 Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel. Sarcastic – I am to blame – extending his rejection to God

Psa 69:7 For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face.

Blames God

As David pours out his emotions, God starts moving on him and he sees glimpses of God (v 5-7) but he is not ready to give over – there are still too many emotions fighting in his heart to get out.

Psa 69:8 I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s sons.

Rejection

Psa 69:9 For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. Self-Pity

Psa 69:10 When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach.

Self righteousness

Psa 69:11 When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them. Self-Pity

Psa 69:12 I am the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.

Self-Pity & Superiority

Psa 69:13 But as for me…. David runs out of words and realizes GOD is his only hope — my prayer is to you, O LORD. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness. Self- Abandonment to God – We ALL need to get to this place!!

Psa 69:14 Deliver me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters. Psa 69:15 Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me. DAVID STARTS OVER with a redeemed attitude – bringing each emotion to god

Psa 69: Answer me, O LORD, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me. Realising that his only claim to god’s help lies in the nature of God himself – Goodness and Mercy

Psa 69:17 Hide not your face from your servant; for I am in distress; make haste to answer me.

REALISING THAT HIS PROBLEMS are nothing compared to GOD REJECTING him – HIS PRIMARY FEAR SURFACES

Psa 69:18 Draw near to my soul, redeem me; Bringing his soul to God

ransom me because of my enemies! Desperation – now David will try anything – if not for me or yourself – then because of the enemy!!

Psa 69:19 You know my reproach, and my shame and my dishonor; my foes are all known to you. SHAME rears its ugly head and David comes to the root of his problem -REJECTION

Psa 69:20 Reproaches have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none. Weak, Self-Pity, Comfortless

Psa 69:21 They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink. REJECTION OF ANOTHER 2 OF LIFE’S NECESSITIES – if he lost the last one (Air to breathe) he would die.

Now as his rejection surfaces it looses emotions of RAGE and REVENGE in David’s heart

Psa 69:22 Let their own table before them become a snare; and when they are at peace, let it become a trap.

Psa 69:23 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see, and make their loins tremble continually.

Psa 69:24 Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your burning anger overtake them.

Psa 69:25 May their camp be a desolation; let no one dwell in their tents.

Psa 69:26 For they persecute him whom you have struck down, and they recount the pain of those you have wounded.

Psa 69:27 Add to them punishment upon punishment; may they have no acquittal from you.

Psa 69:28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living; let them not be enrolled among the righteous.

REVENGE & REJECTION – he asks God to reject them (whose nature is this? Satan’s. Can you see how not dealing with emotions opens a door for Satan).

Psa 69:29 But I am afflicted and in pain; let your salvation, O God, set me on high!

ACKNOWLEDGES HIS STATE & THAT HE NEEDS SALVATION – wanting exactly what he didn’t want them to have from God

Psa 69:30 I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.

David knows that the way to God is taking his eyes off himself and turning them to God in WORSHIP

Psa 69:31 This will please the LORD more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs. ACKNOWLEDGES that WORSHIP is better than SACRIFICE – He cannot DO ANYTHING to please GOD apart from Worship (This is still when the Law stated that sacrifice was the ONLY way to God – David discovered the way to reach God’s heart.)

Psa 69:32 When the humble see it they will be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive. HUMILITY leads to JOY & LIFE

Psa 69:33 For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners. David PROCLAIMS that GOD HEARS HIM – even in prison!!

Psa 69:34 Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them. EXTRAVAGANT PRAISE gets EXTRAVAGANT RESULTS

Psa 69:35 For God will save Zion and build up the cities of Judah, and people shall dwell there and possess it; GOD SPEAKS!! Saying that RESTORATION is not only for David personally – it is for him AND his enemies – the whole Nation!!

Psa 69:36 the offspring of his servants shall inherit it, and those who love his name shall dwell in it. RESTORATION releases an INHERITANCE of GOD’S PRESENCE for future generations as well

We see that as David pours out his emotions the Holy Spirit gets entry to his soul and he starts seeing the light, more emotions surface and he pours them out, he sees more light, then the real issue surfaces and he rages, then he admits the truth to God – he agrees with God about his problem, his sin and he places himself in the right alignment to God by worship.

Have you ever done this with your emotions? I know Holy Spirit told me many times to do exactly this – I refused because I was afraid of the pain that would surface – when I finally did it – the pain was very weak because Jesus died to bear this pain on my behalf.

Pray –

Father God, I confess and repent

for rejecting You as my only source of life

for trying in my own strength and by my own efforts to live my life

for not pouring my emotions out before You

Father God reveal the cause of these negative emotions

I cast out the fear of emotional pain and rejection – (Prayer for fear)

I release the negative emotions and put on the Fruit of the Spirit in my emotions

Blessings

Chris
